Hamburg, Germany – Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG has placed an order for three 8,400 TEU container vessels at Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), marking another step in its fleet expansion strategy. The deal also includes options for two additional ships, reinforcing the company’s commitment to modern and sustainable shipbuilding.
The newly ordered vessels will be equipped with LNG dual-fuel propulsion, reflecting the growing industry trend toward greener shipping solutions. With a price tag estimated between $120 million and $125 million per unit, these vessels are expected to contribute to lower emissions while maintaining operational efficiency. Delivery is scheduled between 2027 and 2028, positioning Peter Döhle for long-term competitiveness in an evolving regulatory landscape.
This order follows Peter Döhle’s 2024 investment in four 14,000 TEU methanol-ready containerships at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). The earlier deal, valued at approximately $150 million per vessel, highlighted the company’s shift toward alternative fuel readiness and enhanced environmental performance.
With these latest acquisitions, Peter Döhle continues to modernize its fleet, ensuring compliance with upcoming emissions regulations while enhancing its operational capabilities. The investment in mid-sized container vessels aligns with market demand for efficient and versatile tonnage, particularly as global trade patterns evolve.
The order at GSI reinforces the German shipowner’s strong ties with Chinese shipbuilders and its dedication to sustainable fleet renewal. As the shipping industry moves toward stricter emissions targets, Peter Döhle’s latest orders underscore its proactive approach to staying ahead in a competitive market.
