1. Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding: Expanding with MR Tankers

Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd., based in Fuzhou, recently secured a milestone contract for four 50,000 DWT Medium Range (MR) product tankers from Eastern Pacific Shipping, with options for four additional units. These versatile vessels, slated for delivery between 2026 and 2027, highlight the shipyard’s adaptability and growing influence in the tanker market.


2. Japan Marine United: VLCC Orders Drive Growth

Japan Marine United Corporation’s Ariake Shipyard continues to shine with a new contract from Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) for two 300,000 DWT Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs). Scheduled for delivery in 2026, these vessels demonstrate JMU's strength in constructing large-scale ships while advancing sustainability with projects like ammonia-fueled carriers.


3. Jiangsu New Rongsheng: A Triumphant Return

After years of dormancy, Jiangsu New Rongsheng Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. has re-entered the shipbuilding arena with orders for eight 11,500 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ships from MSC and two Newcastlemax bulk carriers from Capital Maritime. These contracts, worth over $3 billion, underscore the shipyard's revival and modern capabilities.


4. Ursa Gemicilik: Making Waves in Luxury Yachts

Ursa Gemicilik Bakım Onarım Tersanecilik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. in Istanbul secured its first major luxury yacht order, constructing two Cayman Islands-flagged vessels. This step into the high-end yacht market highlights the company’s craftsmanship and commitment to international standards.


5. Fincantieri Marghera: Leading the Cruise Ship Market

Fincantieri's Marghera Shipyard, near Venice, Italy, celebrated the float-out of Cunard's "Queen Anne" in May 2023, with delivery set for 2024. The shipyard also secured contracts for two Viking cruise ships for 2030 delivery and signed a deal with Crystal for a high-end luxury cruise ship, further cementing its position as a global leader in cruise shipbuilding.


6. COSCO Qidong: Orders for LNG and Offshore Excellence

COSCO Shipping (Qidong) Offshore Co., Ltd. has expanded its portfolio with four 85,000-cbm LNG carriers set for delivery by 2027. The yard also secured contracts for Offshore Energy Support Vessels and advanced jack-up wind installation vessels, showcasing its commitment to green technologies and offshore solutions.
